This week we break down, completely biased of course, the 2008 NBA Playoffs. Finally moving on the Western Conference, we break down #4 Utah versus #5 Houston.
Next up, it’s “Big Salty” versus Clutch City!

Reputation: Almost nil. Foodies usually tend to be liberal hippie douches who sniff their own farts, and unless you’re talking about Sundance or Zion National Park, most of them wouldn’t be caught dead anywhere near conservative Utah.
Local Flavor: Utah food is more renown as family food. The kind of family fare you can only get when a religious zealot convinces his cult to walk to […]

We will also have vegetarian options and veggie side dishes. I’m thinking scalloped potatoes and pasta salad… Sound good?
We really need a few more grills to make this work. So, if you have a grill, please call Megan Begert and let me know! The number is on your newsletter from last week!
Finally, one can wear capris, sandals, shorts, cute spring/summer skirts, and tank tops and not FREEZE!! (That’s just for a female, but if a male wanted to wear that, I am not one to judge) The sun has been shining for about 6 straight days with about 5 more to go without any RAIN! I’m extremely excited about this!
This means many grilled dinners to come, long dog walks after work and best of all NO MORE WHITE, PASTY SKIN! HAHAHA (I’m extremely ghost like 6 months of the year!!) Although, I don’t want to look overcooked from the sun either!
But with that being said, it also means my job will start picking up! It may not be as busy as it is in other areas, but Real Estate is doing good. We have a good number of closings anticipated this month, like 5 pending transactions so far and some pretty decent […]

The short but decisive battle took place near Buffalo Bayou (Houston). While the Mexican forces were taking a nap, Houston launched an attack on the Mexican camp. By the time the Mexican forces woke and figured out what was happening it was all over but the shouting. The entire battle lasted 18 minutes, making it one of the shortest battles in military history. Officially today is San Jacinto Day or Texas Independence day. Today’s post is in honor of those and other Texicans who fought for independence. Before you send comments about how the war between Texas and Mexico was really funded by the U.S. to steal Texas from Mexico I just want say that when my family first moved to Texas […]

Dear CushionsAndUmbrellas.com,
I had to tell you how much we are enjoying our gorgeous offset patio umbrella. We ordered it about 2 weeks ago and it arrived yesterday. We set it up immediately (it was very easy) and my husband immediately figured out how to tilt it and turn it. What a joy to own! Our barbecue is right behind our patio set, so today he decided to do the first ‘cue of the summer. He turned the canopy over to the barbecue side, and had great shade while he made up some quick burgers and dogs. When it was time to sit down and enjoy (he has a monster sauce he loves to use, he won’t let me give out the recipe) we just turned the canopy back over the table. That feature […]

It was GOOD!
I used this recipe for the sauce. And this recipe for cooking the ribs. I did it in the oven — it was so easy.
I used maple syrup instead of brown sugar. And I nixed the Worcestershire sauce and steak sauce (both contain high fructose corn syrup).
The spare ribs came from Rocky Canyon. No antibitotics, no hormones. Happy pigs on pasture.
“Would you eat this again?” I asked.
He said, “I’d eat this every night!”
I had to ask. “Are you sure you’re Jewish?”

It started off innocently. Like all sins. Like all traitors. I did it once. It was easy. I did it in South Africa. When no one was looking. I actually felt good about it the first time. My wife didn’t notice. My daughter was to young. They trusted me. But I just wanted to give them everything they wanted. I did it for them. And I did it again. And again. And again.
Some of my friends started noticing. They looked at me with new eyes. They knew I was wrong. That I am going to a dark place. And that it can never be forgiven. But they were my friends. And friends stand together. […]
